Pitt McGehee Palmer Bonanni & Rivers Partner Megan Bonanni was featured in WDIV-TV’s Karen Drew’s coverage on the allegations against Arpit Saxena, a former Michigan State University physician facing criminal sexual conduct charges.
Megan Bonanni and Lisa Esser-Weidenfeller of Sommers Schwartz represent a former patient who alleges Saxena sexually assaulted her during a January 2025 visit to his East Lansing office. She has filed a Notice of Intent to Sue in the Michigan Court of Claims.
Megan Bonanni noted that MSU policy calls for a chaperone during sensitive examinations, and questioned why the university never reported Saxena to the state’s licensing agency, the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA).
“It should be reported to LARA. It’s a regulatory agency of the state of Michigan and it is something that we, as citizens, use. Anyone who holds a license you can check to see if they have been the subject of a complaint. It’s a very important resource and the university has obligations,” Megan Bonanni told WDIV-TV.
