PMPBR Partner Megan Bonanni Quoted in Detroit Free Press, Representing Michigan Mom in Class Action Against Goldfish Swim School

Pitt McGehee Palmer Bonanni & Rivers is proud to represent Morgan Dean, a Michigan mother who is speaking out publicly for the first time after discovering she and her 2-year-old son were secretly recorded in a changing room at the Goldfish Swim School in Rochester. The Detroit Free Press featured Dean's story after a class action lawsuit against Goldfish Swim School Franchising LLC and its Rochester franchisee was filed by Partner Megan Bonanni.

Dean alleges that Goldfish failed to implement even the most basic security measures, allowing convicted predator Dr. Oumair Aejaz to enter the building more than 50 times, install hidden cameras beneath changing room dividers, and remotely stream footage of women and children in various states of undress. Aejaz is now serving 35 to 60 years in prison after pleading no contest to 31 counts of sexual misconduct.

"For me, what's most egregious is the wholesale lack of safety protocols. This was foreseeable," Megan shared with the Detroit Free Press. "This particular school had zero procedures and policies in place. Had they put even the most basic safety measures in place, this crime would have been avoided....anyone from the street could walk into Goldfish undetected."

Dean is seeking accountability for Goldfish and an order requiring the company to add security protocols across its roughly 150 locations nationwide. Pitt McGehee Palmer Bonanni & Rivers remains committed to fighting for Dean and all those harmed by this preventable failure.
