Beth Rivers Honored with State Bar of Michigan Labor and Employment Law Section's Distinguished Service Award
On January 29, Michigan’s legal community gathered to celebrate Partner Beth Rivers as she received the State Bar of Michigan Labor & Employment Law Section's 2026 Distinguished Service Award.
This award honors Beth as someone who has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to excellence, made major contributions to the advancement of labor and employment law, and reflected the highest ethical principles, while earning widespread recognition and respect from her peers. Beth’s career can be defined by tireless advocacy and groundbreaking legal victories, but her impact extends far beyond individual cases. She has been instrumental in expanding workplace protections for older workers, securing justice for employees facing discrimination and retaliation, and championing civil rights at every turn. Her involvement in DeBoer v. Snyder, the Michigan case that helped pave the way for marriage equality nationwide, stands as just one example of her commitment to fighting for fundamental labor and civil rights.
The ceremony was a fitting tribute to a remarkable attorney who has dedicated her career to standing up for those who need it most, and whose four decades of legal practice have left an indelible mark on labor and employment law.
The Pitt McGehee Palmer Bonanni & Rivers team is honored to call Beth our partner and colleague.
Congratulations, Beth, on this outstanding achievement!
