Paralegal & Intake Coordinator

Pitt McGehee Palmer Bonanni & Rivers PC is seeking a full-time Paralegal/Intake Coordinator . This position is ideal for an experienced paralegal or a recent college graduate seeking to build litigation experience.

Pitt McGehee is one of the largest and most experienced employment and civil rights law firms in Michigan. For over 30 years, we have successfully litgated on behalf of our clients, from individual employment cases to class actions on behalf of thousands of plaintiffs. Our firm is known for leadership roles in a number of significant cases, including the Flint Water case, actions against the US Olympic Committee and the FBI following widespread sexual abuse committed by Larry Nassar, and the recent Bauserman case, which exonerated 3,000 Michiganders falsely accused of unemployment fraud by government AI software.

The Paralegal/Intake Coordinator will assist our team to in all the critical behind-the-scenes administrative work of civil rights litigation. The role will include both paralegal duties and intake duties:

Paralegal Duties:

  • Draft legal documents and prepare shell versions for complaints, briefs, and other filings

  • Interview clients & prepare fact statements for attorney review and development

  • Interview clients and prepare forms for multi-plaintiff cases

  • Communicate with clients in multi-plaintiff cases as directed by attorneys, such as drafting status updates, sending copies of filings,

    requesting documents, etc.

  • Assist with document review, including e-discovery

  • Assist with identifying and implementing AI tools and software

  • Assist with administrative tasks as directed by attorneys and administrative team, including: scanning, copying, preparing binders

    and scheduling

Intake Coordinator Duties

  • Interview potential clients with sensitivity and efficiency

  • Assign intakes daily to the intake team

  • Ensure timely responses to all intake inquiries

  • Prepare and send custom intake correspondence as needed

  • Prepare and distribute weekly intake reports to the firm

  • Prepare custom intake forms for specialized cases (e.g. new class actions)

  • Manage intake software settings as needed for new initiatives and multi-plaintiff cases

  • Assist with monthly/quarterly/annual marketing communications

  • Communicate with partners and intake team to resolve administrative issues as needed, such as: providing partners with status updates,

    identifying ongoing system improvements

  • Assist the Office Manager, Associates, and Law Clerks as needed with intake duties

Qualifications

  • Confidence and skill managing complex administrative projects

  • Excellent writing skills (must provide writing sample)

  • Prior experience using legal support software (case management software, e-discovery software, etc.)

  • Confidence & proactive attitude in a truly fast-paced legal environment

  • Enthusiasm for detail
