Megan Bonanni Quoted in The Detroit News on Allegations Against Former Sinai-Grace Nurse

Megan Bonanni spoke with The Detroit News, discussing her clients and the ongoing case against former Sinai-Grace Hospital nurse Wilfredo Figueroa-Berrios, who has been accused of sexually assaulting several patients under his care.

Figueroa-Berrios is now facing criminal charges for the assaults and has also been named in multiple civil lawsuits. In her conversation with The Detroit News, Megan highlighted the troubling pattern of institutional failures by the hospital, noting parallels to similar cases she has been involved in, like USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar and University of Michigan doctor Robert E. Anderson. In all these cases, these institutions failed to protect those under their care, ignoring warning signs and permitting bad actors to abuse their power and harm vulnerable populations.

“The patterns are always the same. The pattern is systemic failures. ... This just demonstrates how vulnerable people can be exposed to abuse when these institutions fail to act responsibly,” Megan said. Megan has extensive experience supporting survivors through complex litigations, including those harmed by Dr. Nassar and Dr. Anderson.

Megan, alongside Lisa Esser-Weidenfeller of Sommer Schwartz, are representing victims in this case and are continuing to accept new clients.
