Kevin Carlson Comments on Appeals Court Decision to Allow Oxford High School Shooting Lawsuit to Proceed

Pitt McGehee Palmer Bonanni & Rivers is proud to represent and stand with Steve St. Juliana in his pursuit of justice for his daughter Hana, who died in the 2021 Oxford High School shooting. Steve is currently suing the Michigan State Police for allegedly not properly responding to the tips of potential violence they were given.

The case was previously dismissed due to the statute of limitations. However, the appeals court disagreed and ruled that the family of a deceased person has up to two years to file a lawsuit, not the six-month filing deadline imposed by the lower court.

Kevin Carlson recently spoke with Bloomberg Law about the recent decision, stating, “By allowing this case to proceed, the court is upholding the principles of fairness and leading us closer to a path of justice.”
