McGehee Hosts, Travels with Summer Civil Rights "Freedom Tour"

Pitt McGehee Palmer Rivers & Golden partner Cary McGehee traveled with a group of 34 Metro Detroit and out-of-state high school students on a two-week bus trip of the Deep South this past June, focusing on U.S. Civil Rights history. Designed and funded by McGehee, the firm, Michigan Coalition for Human Rights and local sponsors, the trip was designed to help youth learn about and better understand civil rights history not taught in many school text books. McGehee is also the long-time chair of the trip’s sponsor, the Michigan Coalition for Human Rights, co-founded in Detroit 33 years ago by her father, Bishop H. Coleman McGehee Jr. You can read about the trip and her summer journey in this story published in Oakland County Legal News.
