Royal Oak, Michigan, June 26, 2012 – Cary McGehee, founding partner of Pitt, McGehee, Palmer, Rivers & Gordon, has been elected a Fellow by the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers. Election as a Fellow of the College recognizes McGehee’s sustained contribution to the field of labor and employment law and her high standards of integrity, professionalism and character. She has specialized in the practice of employment and civil rights law for over 20 years. McGehee has been recognized as Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Public Justice Foundation and received the Lawyers for the People award from the National Lawyers Guild and the Federal Bar Association’s Wade Hampton McCree Award for the advancement of social justice. In addition, she is a director of the Michigan Coalition for Human Rights and on the advisory boards of the American Civil Liberties Union and the Michigan Interfaith Trust Fund. McGehee is a frequent lecturer at the Institute for Continuing Legal Education and the Michigan Association for Justice. She is a graduate of Bowling Green University and Detroit College of Law. Prior to becoming an attorney, McGehee played professional basketball for the Dallas Diamonds of Women’s American Basketball Association and and is currently a Division I NCAA women’s basketball referee. The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers was established in 1995 and recognizes attorneys who have distinguished themselves as leaders in this area of the law.
